Pontinho rates this game: 5/5Rarely do we use the word “perfect” to describe a game, but in my opinion, Super Mario RPG is pretty damn close. The game come out in 1996, had amazing 3D graphics developed by square and it was the last Mario game on the Super Nintendo. Even though the game was released out the console’s lifespan, the game still is a collector’s pick, and if you want a copy, you surely will pay more than one hundred bucks for it.But why exactly the Super Mario RPG kicks so many asses? Well, its kind a hard to pinpoint. There was a really unique story this time around, a ton of new characters introduced, like Geno, who makes its first and last appearance on a Mario game, and some really cool secrets. For example, the locked doorway in monster town. If you paid 500 coins for some fireworks and trade with a little girl for a shiny stone, you can fight against the hardest boss in the entire game: Culex.
I’m at level 28 at this point and already finished the game, but this guy can still beat the ever loving crap out me. I guess it’s kind of what happens when you put Mario against a cameo straight from final fantasyI’m such a fanboy for this game. The story is a ton of fun, gameplay is out of this world and when you save the princess, the game says the end?
No, she joins your group and does some ass-kicking of her ownwith a Frying Pan! Just like girls are supposed to dojust kidding.Once you get your group together, your goal is collect all star pieces to repair star road. And the final one is at Smith’s Factory, where you fight against his power rangers wannabes. Every once a while, I take this game and spend a weekend leveling up and remember why I love the Super Nintendo. Square and Nintendo, Thank you!

It was quite a unique combination of a typical Mario game and other RPG's such as Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. The difficulty level I'd say was a bit too easy in comparison to something such as Final Fantasy, but it's not bad, and still quite enjoyable.I had very much wished they had made a sequel, as I loved this game so much.
The story is very well done, as well as the characters that you get to play. Mob rule synonym. You get to be Bowser!
Can you believe it?! Bowser and Mario actually WORKING on the same team, it was priceless.If you're a fan of Mario, and you're not even into RPG's, I'd still recommend this game. He sends his goons to retrieve them. Succesfully retrieved stars earn the goons Brownie Points (True story. Seriously.)Along the way you join up with Peach and Bowser (Yes, Bowser. He wants his castle back.) as well as some new characters, like Mallow the 'frog' and Geno, a spirit from Star Road who embodies a doll ('Geno' is actually the name of the doll. Geno's real name is incomprehensible.) to help Mario and his gang send the stars home. Geno never appears in any other Mario game, as far as I know. Nor does Mallow.Nearly all the enemies of SMB 1 & 3 (excluding the bosses in the forts) appear in the game, as well as some new ones and even a few references (an enemy that IS Donkey Kong with a different name, for example)This game is loaded with platform gameplay, hidden dialogues and boss battles (like the most famous one: Culex, a character based on the Final Fantasy universe after you beat him it plays a remix of the FF Victory Theme), minigames and puzzles.
There is even a casino in the game. You can play blackjack. Seriously.All and all, this is a charming and classic title.
